Fatsia japonica is an evergreen shrub with leaves that are large, bright green, and provide a sense of freshness to the garden. Small, white flowers are produced in summer and are followed by small black fruits which both add extra interest to this plant as it grows to 2.5 m tall and the same wide. Fatsia japonica is commonly included in tropical gardens, added to a mixed planting, planted around pool and barbecue areas, maintained in a container, or used to contrast with other leaf types.
