Eugenia reinwardtiana Details

Eugenia reinwardtiana, commonly known as Cedar Bay Cherry, is a large shrub grown for its lush foliage and red berries. The glossy, fresh-green leaves are produced on a dense network of short branches and afford the plant a lush appearance. Small, white flowers are produced in summer and result in red berries from late autumn. It typically grows to 4 m tall and 3 m wide and can be trimmed as necessary which encourages new growth. This Eugenia grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site, and it is tolerant of dry periods, coastal conditions, and moderate frost once established. Eugenia reinwardtiana is commonly used for hedging and screening, as a backdrop for smaller plants, as a specimen plant, added to a mixed planting, or maintained in a pot.
