Escallonia ‘Apple Blossom’ is renowned for its cascading foliage and quaint flowers. Small and glossy, green foliage serves as a stunning backdrop to the masses of lightly scented, pink and white flowers in spring and summer. It is an easily grown shrub with a bushy habit and typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this evergreen is achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained site though it is hardy to moderate frost and dry periods. In NZ gardens, Escallonia ‘Apple Blossom’ is commonly included in a mixed planting, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, grown as an informal hedge, included in cottage gardens, planted around outdoor living areas, or mass planted as a stunning groundcover.
