Eriobotrya Golden Orb, commonly known as Loquat, is a small and rounded tree which is grown for its fruit. Through winter it flowers prolifically and these result in oblong, yellow, edible, juicy fruit in late spring. These are eaten fresh or used for jams. The foliage comprises long, leathery, dark green leaves which are held on rigid, upright stems. It typically grows to 5 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this tree are achieved when grown on a well-drained site in full sun. It is tolerant of coastal conditions and frost. Eriobotrya Golden Orb is commonly used for fruit production, added to a mixed planting, maintained in a courtyard garden, grown in a container, or used as a backdrop for smaller plants.
