Flowers in autumn are small, fragrant, silvery in colour, and are followed by orange berries. It typically grows to 3 m tall and the same wide, performing best when grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, coastal conditions, and dry periods once established. Elaeagnus Gilt Edge is commonly used as a screen, trimmed into a hedge, as a backdrop for smaller plants, or included in mixed plantings.
