Elaeagnus ebbingei, commonly known as Silverberry, is a vigorous, evergreen shrub renowned for both its foliage and flowers. The glossy, dark green leaves are held densely off short stems, and complemented with small and highly fragrant flowers in autumn. The flowers are followed by orange berries which add extra appeal to this plant. It typically grows to 3.5 m tall and the same wide, performing best when grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, coastal conditions, and dry periods once established. Elaeagnus ebbingei is commonly trimmed into a hedge, planted as a backdrop for smaller plants, used for screening purposes, or included in mixed plantings.
