Daphne transatlantica grows well in New Zealand’s temperate climate, thriving in full sun to partial shade with well-drained, humus-rich soil. It prefers a slightly sheltered position, away from strong winds and intense afternoon sun. Water regularly during dry spells, especially during the first year, but avoid overwatering or allowing the soil to become soggy. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and regulate temperature, keeping mulch clear of the crown. Lightly prune after flowering to maintain shape.
