Daphne genkwa, commonly known as Blue Daphne or Lilac Daphne, is a medium-sized shrub and grown for its impressive flowering. Long stems host masses of beautiful, lavender-blue flowers in spring, just before the foliage appears. This deciduous shrub grows with a symmetrical, rounded shape to about 1 m tall and the same wide. It performs best when grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site, and is tolerant of frosts and cool climates. Daphne genkwa is commonly included in a mixed planting, grown in a container, used for border planting, or added to a cottage garden. The stems are often used as a cut flower.
