Cytisus albus, commonly known as White Spanish Broom, is an upright, almost leafless shrub grown for its prolific flowering. It becomes clothed with masses of white, pea like flowers from spring through summer. This plant typically grows to 2 m tall and 1 m wide and can be trimmed as necessary. It performs best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site, though it is tolerant of coastal conditions, frost, cool climates, wind, and dry periods. Cytisus albus is commonly included in a mixed planting, grown as an informal hedge, used in “white” gardens, showcased with a mass planting on a bank, or used to brighten a stark corner.
