Crowea 'Festival'

How to grow Crowea 'Festival' in NZ

Crowea 'Festival' grows best in full sun to light shade with free draining soil that retains some moisture without becoming waterlogged. Choose a sheltered position with good airflow and protection from severe frost, especially while plants are young. Water regularly during establishment and through prolonged dry periods. A light application of balanced fertiliser in spring can support healthy growth and flowering. Mulch around the base to conserve moisture, keeping mulch clear of the stems. In containers, use a quality free draining potting mix and make sure excess water can drain freely.

Crowea 'Festival' care tips

Crowea 'Festival' is relatively easy to care for when grown in suitable conditions. Water during extended dry periods, especially while plants are young, and avoid allowing the soil to remain saturated. Trim lightly after flowering to maintain a compact shape and encourage fresh growth. Remove damaged or weak stems as required. Feed lightly in spring if growth appears poor, but avoid excessive fertiliser. Good drainage, regular moisture, and shelter from severe frost will help Crowea 'Festival' remain healthy and attractive. Occasional pruning is usually sufficient to keep the shrub dense and tidy.

Crowea 'Festival' size, spacing, and growth rate

Crowea 'Festival' typically grows to around 60 cm to 1 m tall and spreads to a similar width, forming a compact, rounded evergreen shrub. Growth is moderate, with plants establishing steadily in sheltered positions with good drainage and regular moisture. Space plants approximately 60 to 80 cm apart for grouped planting or low borders, depending on the density required. Wider spacing can be used for individual specimens. With suitable conditions, Crowea 'Festival' develops into a tidy shrub with dependable foliage, useful structure, and an attractive seasonal flower display.
