This deciduous shrub thrives in most NZ climates and delivers vibrant colour from spring through autumn, with leaves turning orange and red in cooler months.

Cotinus 'Golden Spirit' care tips

Cotinus 'Golden Spirit' thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. Water regularly during its first growing season, then only during dry spells once established. Prune in late winter to maintain shape or encourage fresh growth. Hard pruning will produce larger leaves but may reduce flowering. Avoid overfeeding, as excessive nutrients can dull leaf colour. This variety is generally pest and disease-free and is valued for its golden foliage that shifts to orange and red in autumn.

Cotinus 'Golden Spirit' (Yellow Smoke Tree) size, spacing, and growth rate

Cotinus 'Golden Spirit' (Yellow Smoke Tree) typically reaches about 3 m tall and 3 m wide in suitable conditions.
