This becomes adorned with cream-white flowers in summer which hang gracefully across the plant as it grows to 1.5 m tall and 2 m wide. Correa backhouseana is commonly trimmed into a hedge, added to mixed plantings, used in coastal gardens, or maintained in a container. It is well suited to planting in dry areas where other plants may struggle.

Correa backhouseana is a vigorous and fast-growing shrub. The foliage is made up of rusty coloured branchlets which carry olive-green leaves.
