Corokia ‘Little Prince’ is a small and twiggy, NZ native shrub that features small, grey-brown leaves and black stems. The slim, intertwined stems afford an unusual element to this plant. It produces masses of small, yellow flowers in spring which are followed by red berries in autumn that attract birds. This evergreen typically grows to 3 m tall and 1.5 m wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this shrub are achieved when it is grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, dry and exposed conditions, including salt winds but is intolerant of wet soils. Corokia ‘Little Prince’ clips into an excellent hedge and it perfect for adding contrast and variety to a mixed planting.
