Corokia ‘Frosted Chocolate’ is a hardy, NZ native shrub that feature lovely foliage and an interesting form. It grows as a mass of wiry, tangled, silver-grey branches carrying small, brown-green leaves. Small, star like, mildly fragrant, yellow flowers which are produced in summer and are followed by small, red-orange berries which are great for attracting birds. This evergreen typically grows to 2 m tall and 1 m wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this shrub are achieved when it is planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site, though it will tolerate wind, frost, coastal conditions, and extended dry periods once established. Corokia ‘Frosted Chocolate’ is commonly trimmed into a hedge but also works well in mixed plantings, using as a backdrop for smaller plants, or planting to border an entrance.
