“Elegantissima” is a deciduous shrub grown for its variegated foliage and colourful stems. The leaves emerge green with a white margin in spring and are held densely. They develop gold, apricot and red tones in autumn before falling to leave behind the vibrant and aesthetic, red stems. Cream-white flowers are borne from spring through summer and are followed by small, white berries in autumn. It typically grows to 3 m tall and the same wide though can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this shrub is achieved when it is grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and short periods of dry. “Elegantissima” is a great choice for mixed plantings, using as backdrop for smaller plants, growing for winter colour, or planting around outdoor living areas.
