Swamp Coprosma, Hukihuki
Coprosma tenuicaulis, commonly known as Swamp Coprosma or Hukihuki, is a hardy New Zealand native shrub reaching up to 3 meters in height. It features slender, interlacing branches and small, rounded leaves with darker margins and a lighter central blotch. Thriving in wet, boggy soils of swamps and lake margins, this plant produces dark reddish-black to black berries between February and June, which are a valuable food source for birds. Its adaptability makes it ideal for wetland gardens, riparian planting, and enhancing wildlife habitats.
