Matagouri Coprosma, Leafy Coprosma, Stiff Karamu

Coprosma rigida, commonly known as Stiff Karamu, is a hardy New Zealand native shrub reaching up to 4 metres in height. It features small green leaves on a distinctive zig-zagging, wiry branch structure. Thriving in damp, poorly drained soils, it's ideal for riparian zones, forest margins, and native revegetation projects. Its dense, divaricating form provides excellent shelter for birds and lizards, while its yellow-orange berries on female plants attract native wildlife.
