“Pacific Sunset” is a NZ native shrub renowned for its colourful foliage. It features small and glossy, dark red leaves highlighted with a dark purple edge. The colouring intensifies during winter and when grown in full sun. This evergreen grows upright and compactly to about 1.5 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this plant is achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained site, though it is tolerant of most soil conditions, except at the extremes of wet and dry. It is also tolerant of coastal conditions, moderate frost, and wind. “Pacific Sunset” is commonly included in a mixed planting, trimmed into a hedge, planted around outdoor living areas such as pools and barbecue areas, or used anywhere an attractive, hardy, and low maintenance shrub is required.
