“Pacific Sunrise” is a NZ native shrub grown for its highly colourful foliage. It carries small and rounded, glossy leaves that are a mix of bright pink and brown. As cooler weather sets in the colouring intensifies. This evergreen grows compactly and densely to about 1 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. This hardy plant will tolerate most soils, barring extreme wet or dry, as well as coastal conditions, some wind, and moderate frost. “Pacific Sunrise” is commonly trimmed into a hedge, included in a mixed planting, maintained in a container, used to brighten a dull corner, or planted around outdoor living areas. When grown for hedging plants should be spaced 50 cm apart.
