“Inferno” is an outstanding variety of Coprosma owing to its highly coloured foliage. It carries small and rounded, glossy leaves that are a mix of cream, pink, and green. As cooler weather sets in the colouring deepens to deep red. It grows compactly to about 1.5 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. This hardy plant will tolerate most soils and levels of moisture through it does require protection from frost, particularly when young. “Inferno” is commonly used as a specimen, trimmed into a hedge, included in mixed plantings, planted around outdoor living areas, maintained in a container, or used to soften a dull or plain wall. When grown for hedging plants should be spaced 60-70 cm apart.
