“Golden Star” is a NZ native, evergreen shrub that carries, large and glossy leaves that are variegated green, gold, and edged with pink. The colours are magnificent and tend to intensify during winter. It typically grows to 1.5 m tall and 1 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. This hardy plant will tolerate most soils and levels of moisture through it does require protection from heavy frost, particularly when young. “Golden Star” is commonly used as a specimen, trimmed into a hedge, included in mixed plantings, maintained in a container, planted around outdoor living areas, or used soften a dull or plain wall. When grown for hedging plants should be spaced 50 cm apart. The beauty of the glossy foliage makes this plant a popular choice.
