Coprosma crassifolia, commonly known as Mingimingi, is a hardy New Zealand native shrub featuring small, thick, glossy green leaves and wide-angled reddish branches. Growing up to 4 metres tall, it thrives in coastal, lowland, and lower montane shrublands and forests. The plant produces white to pale-yellow berries that attract birds and lizards, making it an excellent choice for wildlife-friendly gardens, hedging, and revegetation projects.

If you desire a dense hedge faster, feel free to space them 40 cm apart. If you space them out to 75 cm apart, the hedge will take longer to fill in and tend to a lot broader. Trimming should be undertaken during active growth in spring with just the sides trimmed so the plants continue to grow upwards.
