Mingimingi, Thick-Leaved Coprosma
Coprosma crassifolia, commonly known as Mingimingi, is a hardy New Zealand native shrub featuring small, thick, glossy green leaves and wide-angled reddish branches. Growing up to 4 meters tall, it thrives in coastal, lowland, and lower montane shrublands and forests. The plant produces white to pale-yellow berries that attract birds and lizards, making it an excellent choice for wildlife-friendly gardens, hedging, and revegetation projects.
