Coprosma ‘Cappuccino’ is a variety that features fine, chocolate brown foliage. New foliage in spring emerges a coppery-bronze colour and is held somewhat densely off upright branches. This NZ native typically grows to 1.5 m tall and 1 m wide with a tidy and compact habit. It tolerates a wide range of soil conditions barring the extremes of wet and dry, coastal environments, but can be sensitive to heavy frost when young. It should be grown in full sun on a well-drained site for best results. Coprosma ‘Cappuccino’ is commonly included in mixed plantings, planted around the pool or barbecue area, maintained in a container, or planted in those more difficult to grow areas of the garden. It is regarded as one of the more attractive hedging plants and they should be spaced 50 cm apart if used this way.
