Coleonema Rubrum, commonly known as the Red Breath of Heaven Plant, is a compact, evergreen shrub featuring lovely foliage and flowers. It carries fine, dark green leaves which tend to wisp in the wind and release a pleasant fragrance when brushed against. The foliage is adorned by masses of small pink flowers from winter through spring. The combination of flowers and foliage is very pleasant on this soft looking plant. It typically grows to 75 cm tall and 1 m wide and is often lightly trimmed after flowering to maintain its shape. Coleonema Rubrum grows best when planted in a full sun position on a well-drained site, and is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and coastal conditions. This hardy and reliable plant is often used as a groundcover, added to mixed and border plantings, or used to contrast with other, leafier plants.
