Clianthus puniceus Pink Flamingo is a NZ native shrub that produces a flush of stunning, beak like flowers from spring through summer. The showy, rose-pink flowers are produced in abundance and literally transform the plant. The mid-green, fine foliage is soft in appearance and provides a lovely backdrop to the flowers. It typically grows to 2 m tall and the same wide, performing best when grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of moderate frost and dry periods. Clianthus Pink Flamingo is commonly included in mixed plantings, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, planted against a bland wall, grown around outdoor living areas, maintained in a container, or mass planted for an impressive display.
