Choisya 'Aztec Gold'

Plant Size and Spacing

Choisya 'Aztec Gold' typically grows to about 1.2–1.5 metres tall and wide, forming a compact, rounded shape. For hedging or mass planting, space the plants 50 cm apart to allow them to merge effectively. When used as a feature or in mixed borders, allow at least 1 metre of space around the plant to showcase its golden foliage and fragrant blooms effectively.

Growing Conditions and Care

Choisya 'Aztec Gold' thrives in full sun to part shade and prefers well-drained soil. It grows best in a sheltered position protected from harsh winds and heavy frost. Water regularly during the first year to establish a strong root system, then reduce watering as the plant becomes drought-tolerant. Apply mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Light pruning after flowering encourages bushy growth and repeat blooming. Feed annually in spring with a balanced fertiliser for vibrant foliage and more prolific flowering.
