The fine, glossy, dark green foliage provides a lovely backdrop to the flowers and berries. The narrow leaves emerge a rich, copper-red colour and age to dark green. It typically grows to 5 m tall and 3 m wide, performing best in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of dry periods, some wind, and coastal environments.
