Ceanothus impressus
Ceanothus impressus, commonly known as California Lilac, is a spreading, evergreen shrub with small, deeply veined, glossy, dark green leaves. It produces masses of dark blue flowers in spring, which together with the foliage, provides an outstanding display as it grows to 1.5 m tall and 2.5 m wide. Ceanothus impressus makes for an attractive filler in a mixed planting and is often used as a backdrop for smaller plants.
