Ceanothus Blue Sapphire is a popular variety due to its intense flowering and lovely form. It becomes smothered in pretty, blue flowers in spring which are held off arching stems. The stems host small and glossy, dark green leaves which are aesthetic in their own right. It typically grows to 1 m tall and 2 m wide, preferring a sunny position with good drainage. It will tolerate coastal environments, moderate frost, and short periods of dry once established. Ceanothus Blue Sapphire is commonly used in border plantings, added to mixed plantings, included in cottage gardens, planted around outdoor living areas, or used as a groundcover. It is quite picturesque when allowed to spill out over a path of wall.
