Carmichaelia odorata, commonly known as the Scented Broom, is a multi-branched, NZ native shrub grown for its lovely form and pretty, fragrant flowers. It boasts arching stems carrying flattened branches to give an overall weeping display. Amidst the branches and small, green leaves are borne pleasantly scented, mauve and white flowers through spring. The plant typically grows to 3 m tall and 2 m wide but can be trimmed as necessary. It grows best on a well-drained site in full sun or partial shade and it is tolerant of frost, cool climates, wind, and dry periods.
