In summer, the stems bear masses of violet-white which literally transform the plant as it grows to 4 m tall and 2 m wide. Carmichaelia muritai is commonly used in coastal gardens and anywhere a hardy plant is required. A mass planting on a bank or against a wall or fence gives a lovely display.

Carmichaelia muritai Details

Carmichaelia muritai, commonly known as Cliffords Bay Broom, is a leafless, upright shrub with dense, bronze stems. In summer, the stems bear masses of violet-white which literally transform the plant. It typically grows to 4 m tall and 2 m wide, performing best in full sun and a well-drained site though it will grow well in partial shade conditions also. It is tolerant of dry periods, wind, frost, cool climates, and heavy soils. Carmichaelia muritai is commonly used in coastal gardens and anywhere a hardy plant is required. A mass planting on a bank or against a wall or fence gives a lovely display.
