Growing Camellia Quintessence Successfully in NZ

Camellia Quintessence thrives with a well-drained soil when positioned in full sun or partial shade. Be sure to plant it in a sheltered spot away from harsh winds. Enriching the soil with organic matter will help promote healthier growth and more prolific flowering. Regular watering during dry periods also helps to maintain the vibrant foliage and flowers.

Camellia Quintessence Care Tips

Water regularly during dry spells, prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape, and mulch to retain moisture. Feeding with acid plant fertiliser in early spring will help keep the plant healthy and flowering for longer. Look for common pests such as aphids and scale insects, and treat early to avoid damage. Removing spent flowers encourages further blooming and keeps the plant tidy.

Plant Size and Spacing

The Camellia Quintessence shrub grows about 1.5-2 metres tall and 1 metre wide. A shrub of this size can be trimmed as necessary, which not only contains growth but also makes the plant bushier and can stimulate increased flowering. Any trimming is best undertaken after flowering.
