Camellia Nicky Crisp

Camellia Nicky Crisp is a lovely, evergreen shrub that produces pale pink, semi-double flowers with golden anthers. These spectacular blooms appear in winter and spring and contrast well with glossy, dark green foliage as it grows to 2 m tall and 1.5 m wide. Camellia Nicky Crisp is commonly grown as specimen, clipped into a hedge, added to a mixed planting, used in cottage gardens, planted around outdoor living areas, or used as a backdrop for smaller plants.

How to grow the best Camellia Nicky Crisp Hedge

Growing the best Camellia Nicky Crisp hedge starts with determining how far apart to space the plants. As a general guide, a spacing of 50 cm between the plants is the ideal spacing for a Camellia hedge. If you want the hedge to fill in faster, you can close the spacing to 40 cm. However, going wider than 50 cm will have two impacts. The first is that the gap between the plants at the base will be harder to fill in. The second is that the plants will tend to grow wider rather than upward. At a closer spacing the plants compete for light, and as they do this, they push each other upwards. The Plant Company recommends a 40-50 cm spacing to achieve an amazing hedge.

What does Camellia Nicky Crisp plant need to grow well?

Camellia Nicky Crisp performs best when grown in full sun on a well-drained soil that is slightly acidic. It is tolerant of frost once established as well as cool, and humid climates. Wind protection is important to ensure branches are not snapped and to allow it to flower prolifically.
