Callistemon viminalis ‘Slim’ is a variety of the commonly known Bottlebrush, and is grown for its narrow growth habit and pretty flowers. It grows as a multi-trunked shrub with small, mid-dark green foliage held densely. Through spring and summer, it produces masses of the spectacular red flowers to literally transform the plant. It typically grows to to 2.5 m tall and 1.3 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. It has a great resilience to a wide variety of climatic conditions and soil types making it an easy plant to grow. This Bottlebrush grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. Callistemon ‘Slim’ is commonly used for hedging or screening with plants spaced 50 cm apart. It is also well suited to planting around outdoor living areas, including in mixed plantings, growing as a small specimen, using as a backdrop for smaller plants, or simply maintaining in a container.
