How to grow Callistemon Red Cluster

To grow Callistemon 'Red Cluster', plant it in a full sun position with well-drained soil, as this variety needs plenty of light to produce its vibrant red bottlebrush flowers. Before planting, enrich the soil with compost or organic matter to promote strong early growth. Water regularly during the first growing season to help establish a deep, robust root system; once mature, it becomes drought-tolerant and only needs occasional deep watering during extended dry periods. Light pruning after flowering helps maintain a dense, bushy shape and encourages even heavier blooming in the next season. Fertilise in early spring with a low-phosphorus, slow-release fertiliser designed for Australian natives to support healthy foliage and flower production. Apply mulch around the base to retain soil moisture and suppress weeds, keeping the mulch a few centimetres away from the main stem to prevent rot. 'Red Cluster' is hardy, tolerates light frosts, and typically grows to about 3 to 4 metres tall, making it ideal for screening, large hedges, or a striking feature plant.
