Callistemon MacArthur is a smaller variety of Bottlebrush that grows to about 1.5 m tall and the same wide. The bottlebrush-like flowers are red, and while they appear throughout the year, peak blooming occurs through summer and autumn. The flowers are set amidst the narrow, mid-green foliage. How to grow the Callistemon MacArthur bottlebrush

To grow Callistemon 'MacArthur', plant it in a sunny position with well-drained soil, as it thrives best in full sun and tolerates a variety of soil types, including clay and sandy loam. Water regularly during the first growing season to help establish deep roots, then reduce watering as the plant becomes drought-tolerant. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds, keeping the mulch clear of the trunk. Lightly prune after flowering to maintain a compact shape and encourage more blooms. Apply a low-phosphorus, native-plant fertiliser in spring to promote healthy growth and vibrant flowering. ‘MacArthur’ typically grows to around 1.5–2 metres tall and wide, producing masses of red bottlebrush flowers in spring and summer that attract birds and pollinators. It's ideal for use in native gardens, borders, or as a colourful hedge.
