Callistemon viminalis ‘Green John’ is a popular variety of Bottlebrush due to its colourful flowers, foliage, and small stature. Bright red flowers coat the plant from spring through summer and are great for attracting birds and bees. The small and narrow leaves are a lovely shade of green and complement the flowers perfectly. This dwarf Bottlebrush typically grows to 70 cm tall and 60 cm wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It tolerates a wide variety of climatic conditions including frost and coastal environments as well as most soil types, barring extreme wet or dry. This makes it an easy to grow plant which is also low maintenance. Callistemon ‘Green John’ is commonly added to a mixed planting, included in borders, planted around outdoor living areas, maintained in a container, or mass planted for a spectacular display.
