How to grow the Callistemon Candy Floss bottlebrush

To grow Callistemon ‘Candy Floss’, plant it in a sunny position with well-drained soil, as this variety thrives in full sun and tolerates a range of soil types, including clay and sandy loam. Water regularly during the establishment phase, then less frequently as it becomes drought-tolerant. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds, avoiding contact with the trunk. Prune lightly after flowering to shape the plant and encourage bushier growth and more blooms. Apply a low-phosphorus fertiliser in spring to support healthy foliage and flowering. ‘Candy Floss’ typically grows to around 1.5 to 2 metres high and wide, and it produces soft pink bottlebrush flowers that attract birds and pollinators. It is a hardy, low-maintenance shrub ideal for borders, native gardens, or as a colourful feature plant.
