How to grow Callistemon Better John

To grow Callistemon ‘Better John’, choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil, as this compact cultivar thrives in full sun and adapts well to various soil types, including clay and sandy loam. Water regularly during the first year to help it establish, then reduce frequency as it becomes drought-tolerant. Mulch around the base to conserve moisture and keep weeds down, taking care not to pile mulch against the trunk. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain its tidy form and encourage dense growth.
