How to grow Callistemon Betka Beauty

To grow Callistemon Betka Beauty, choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil, as this cultivar thrives in full sun and tolerates a range of soil types, including sandy and clay soils. Before planting, enrich the soil with organic compost to boost nutrients. Water regularly during the first growing season to help establish a deep, resilient root system, then reduce watering once established, as Callistemon are drought-tolerant. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain a neat shape and encourage dense, bushy growth. Fertilise annually in spring with a slow-release, low-phosphorus fertiliser. Betka Beauty can tolerate light frosts and coastal conditions, making it a hardy choice for many gardens. Mulching around the base will help retain soil moisture and suppress weeds, but keep mulch away from the stem to prevent rot. This plant is perfect for low-maintenance gardens, screening, or attracting birds with its bright pink bottlebrush flowers.

Pruning tips for Callistemon Betka Beauty

Pruning Callistemon Betka Beauty is simple and helps keep the plant compact, encourage bushy growth, and promote heavier flowering. The best time to prune is immediately after flowering finishes — this prevents cutting off future flower buds. Lightly trim back the spent flower spikes along with a small amount of the stem to encourage more lateral branching. Avoid cutting into old, woody wood as recovery can be slow. If shaping the plant or reducing its size, aim to remove no more than one-third of the plant at a time to avoid stressing it. Always use clean, sharp pruning shears to make clean cuts and reduce the risk of disease. An annual light prune will keep Betka Beauty looking neat, dense, and full of vibrant blooms. Mulching and a light feed after pruning will further support strong regrowth.
