Buxus microphylla 'Freedom' is a fast-growing, evergreen box hedge variety popular in NZ gardens. How to grow Buxus microphylla 'Freedom' in NZ

To grow Buxus microphylla 'Freedom' in NZ, choose a sunny or partly shaded position with well-drained soil. Plant 40–50 cm apart when creating a hedge. Water regularly while establishing, then only during prolonged dry periods. Apply a slow-release fertiliser in spring and trim lightly two to three times a year to maintain a dense, compact shape. Mulch annually to conserve moisture and suppress weeds, keeping mulch away from the plant’s crown to prevent rot.
