Buxus microphylla ‘Faulkner’ is a fantastic variety of Boxwood that is favoured for its elegant foliage. It features small, bright green leaves which age to dark green. These are held on short stems as it grows to 1.2 m tall and 1 m wide. This plant is often trimmed to smaller sizes which increases the denseness of the plant and encourages new growth. Best results with this variety of Box hedge are achieved when it is planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. In NZ it is tolerant of most soil types, barring extreme wet and dry, moderate frost, and cool climates. Buxus ‘Faulkner’ is often trimmed into a formal hedge, included in a mixed planting, or used as a backdrop for smaller plants. For a box hedge space the plants 30-40 cm apart.
