Masses of sweetly fragrant, pansy like flowers are produced through spring and summer, literally transforming the plant. It grows as a rounded cushion of leathery, green leaves to about 1 m tall and 75 cm wide. Brunfelsia calycina is commonly grown as an informal hedge, added to a mixed planting, planted around outdoor living areas, used in cottage gardens, or mass planted alongside a path or on a bank.
