Bauera 'Plum Duff'

How to grow Bauera 'Plum Duff' in NZ

Grow Bauera 'Plum Duff' in sun or light shade, using slightly acidic soil with good drainage. Avoid wet clay or improve drainage before planting. Set plants at the original depth and water thoroughly. Mulch around the roots without covering the stems. Maintain even moisture during establishment and choose shelter from drying winds. Feed conservatively with a suitable native plant fertiliser and avoid excessive enrichment around sensitive roots. Check moisture regularly as the new roots settle into their surroundings.

Bauera 'Plum Duff' care tips

Care for Bauera 'Plum Duff' by matching moisture and feeding to its growing season. Water during establishment and monitor moisture during dry weather, especially for plants in containers. Mulch lightly to protect the roots, keeping stems clear. Feed conservatively with a suitable native plant fertiliser during active growth. Trim lightly after flowering when needed to maintain shape. Avoid severe pruning into bare wood and check drainage during wet winter periods.

Bauera 'Plum Duff' size, spacing, and growth rate

Bauera 'Plum Duff' typically reaches about 50 cm tall and 50 cm wide under suitable conditions. For individual plants, allow about 50 cm between centres to give the foliage space without excessive crowding. It has a moderate growth rate under suitable conditions. Final size varies with climate, soil, container size, and maintenance. Allow for the expected spread when positioning plants beside paths, walls, or neighbouring specimens. Check the developing plant regularly and adjust nearby planting as its natural form becomes clearer.
