Banksia spinulosa

Hairpin Banksia

Banksia spinulosa, commonly known as the Hairpin Banksia, is a shrub that grows to about 2 m tall and 1.5 m wide and is renowned for its colourful flower spikes. Spikes up to 20 cm long are borne during autumn carrying red-orange flowers. The Hairpin Banksia performs best when grown in full sun on a well-drained site, and is tolerant of coastal environments, dry periods, and frost. Banksia spinulosa makes a fantastic addition to a mixed planting and is great for attracting wildlife into the garden.
