Banksia Sentinel Details

Banksia Sentinel is a variety of Banksia grown for both its foliage and flowers. From spring through winter, it bears bottlebrush like flowers, up to 25 cm long. They start off green, age to cream, then turn orange-brown at maturity. The flowers are great for attracting birds and are complemented by olive-green foliage. It grows with an upright and narrow habit to about 3 m in height and 1.5 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this Banksia are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of dry periods, frost, cool climates, and coastal environments. Banksia integrifolia Sentinel is great for adding to a mixed planting, grown as a specimen, used for screening, trimmed into a hedge, planted to attract birds, or grown around outdoor living areas.
