Bambusa 'Wang Tsai'

How to grow Bambusa 'Wang Tsai' in NZ

Bambusa 'Wang Tsai' grows best in a sunny or partly shaded position with fertile well drained soil. In New Zealand gardens it performs well in sheltered areas where the foliage is protected from strong winds. Choose a site with enough space for the clump to expand naturally. Water regularly during the establishment period and apply mulch around the base to help retain soil moisture and support strong root development.

Bambusa 'Wang Tsai' care tips

Bambusa 'Wang Tsai' is easy to maintain and requires minimal care once established. Water during extended dry periods so the foliage remains lush and healthy. A general garden fertiliser applied in spring will encourage vigorous growth. Older canes can be removed at ground level to keep the clump neat and encourage fresh shoots. Maintaining a layer of mulch will help improve soil conditions and moisture retention.

Bambusa 'Wang Tsai' size, spacing, and growth rate

Bambusa 'Wang Tsai' typically grows to about three to four metres tall and around two metres wide. It has a clumping growth habit which means it expands gradually without spreading aggressively.
