Backhousia myrtifolia Details

Backhousia myrtifolia, commonly known as the Cinnamon Myrtle, features cinnamon flavoured leaves and is a large shrub grown for its impressive flowering and form. Scented, cream-white flowers are borne from summer through autumn and are great for attracting birds and bees. The flowers contrast nicely with the dark green foliage. The trunk is grey-brown and often flakes, giving an interesting patterning. It typically grows to 3 m tall and the same wide, though it can be trimmed to sizes much less than this. It prefers a full sun or semi-shade position and a well-drained site. Young plants can be frost tender but once established they become more tolerant. Backhousia myrtifolia is commonly grown as a specimen, included in a mixed planting, or grown to attract birds and other wildlife.
