Azalea 'Wryneck'

How to grow Azalea 'Wryneck' in NZ

Azalea 'Wryneck' grows best in a sheltered position with partial shade and soil rich in organic matter. Choose a location with free draining slightly acidic soil as azaleas thrive in these conditions. In New Zealand gardens it performs well in woodland style plantings or protected garden beds. Keep the soil evenly moist while the plant establishes and apply mulch around the base to help retain moisture and support healthy root growth.

Azalea 'Wryneck' care tips

Azalea 'Wryneck' is easy to maintain when planted in suitable conditions. Water during dry periods as azaleas prefer consistent soil moisture around their roots. Apply a fertiliser designed for acid loving plants in spring to promote strong growth and flowering. Remove faded blooms once flowering finishes to keep the shrub tidy. A light trim after flowering will help maintain a compact rounded shape and encourage dense growth.

Azalea 'Wryneck' size, spacing, and growth rate

Azalea 'Wryneck' typically grows to about one metre tall and wide, forming a dense rounded shrub. It has a moderate growth rate and gradually develops into a full plant over time. For best results allow about one metre of space between plants so each shrub can develop properly.
